The NRX+ is a serious all-round freshwater rod for flyfishers who want one blank that can handle whatever the day throws at it. It's fast enough for distance work and windy conditions, but it doesn't leave you in the dark when you're fishing close. The 9-foot 6-weight is probably the pick of the range. If you want a rod you'll still be fishing in 20 years, this is that rod.

Wind, current, structure. The variables stack up fast when you're on the water, and a rod that can't adapt to them will cost you fish. The NRX+ is built for exactly this kind of fishing.

G. Loomis describe it as their most advanced compound taper ever, and the result is a fast-action rod that doesn't behave like most fast-action rods. It has the line speed and loop stability you'd expect from a modern graphite blank, but it doesn't lose sensitivity at close range. Most fast rods go dead when you're fishing short. The NRX+ doesn't. From a 10-metre nymphing setup to a 25-metre streamer cast into a headwind, the action stays connected and confident.

That comes down to Dynamic Recovery Technology. G. Loomis have combined ultra-high modulus carbon with their GL8 resin system and a multi-stage taper design that widens the sweet spot for power and recovery. In plain terms: the rod loads more efficiently across a wider range of distances, so you're not fighting the blank to get good loops.

Component quality is what you'd expect at this level. Single foot Recoil guides throughout, Titanium SiC stripping guide, AAA grade cork on a Micro Full Well grip, and custom aluminium reel seats with walnut inserts on the shorter freshwater models. Fighting butt on the 10-foot and 6-weight variants for those longer days. Handcrafted in Woodlands, Washington.

The NRX+ comes in a solid range of configurations from a 9-foot 4-weight up to a 10-foot 8-weight, with a 9'5" medium-fast 5-weight in the mix for anyone wanting something a little more versatile for dry fly and nymph work.
