How To Use Sphagnum Moss

You can use Sphagnum moss in a variety of ways within your vivarium. It can be spread across the surface of the substrate in patches in a tropical terrarium to help maintain moisture and provide hiding spots for clean up crew and livefood - thereby aiding behavioural enrichment through natural hunting activities. Alternatively spread it around the base of plants and plant pots to help them retain moisture.

For desert setups, place the moss in caves and burrows to create humid spots that aid shedding and nesting behaviours.

Your moss will arrive dried as a compressed brick. Open it up and place a small amount in a bowl then add a little water. Over the next couple of hours your moss will gradually rehydrate, so keep checking and add more water if required. The moss in the packed can be resealed and stored till you need it later.
